The Iranian President, his Foreign Minister, and the accompanying delegation were killed in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan Province

Mohsen Mansouri, Executive Assistant to the Iranian Presidency, mourned President Ebrahim Raisi, while the official Iranian media announced that Raisi and the rest of the helicopter passengers were killed in an air accident in East Azerbaijan Province.

Mansouri commented on the latest news about the plane crash, writing the verse “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return” in a post on the “X” platform, attaching the hashtag “Lord of the Martyrs.”

In turn, Mehr Agency said, “The president of our country and his accompanying delegation have attained the status of a high degree.”

Raisi's helicopter crashed in East Azerbaijan Province, in bad weather conditions, but until this moment no official announcement has been issued confirming the death of those on board.

It is worth noting that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian was also on board the Iranian President’s helicopter, in addition to Muhammad Ali Al Hashem, the Iranian leader’s representative in East Azerbaijan Province, Malek Rahmati, the governor of East Azerbaijan, and the helicopter crew.

Since yesterday afternoon, Sunday, rescue teams have led intense efforts to reach the scene of the accident. Weather conditions, fog and rain have hindered the arrival of vehicles, prompting foot teams to comb the place in search of the wreckage.
